For the first time in months, I am pleased to have little time on my hands. Hours not spent working or playing music have been packed with outings with friends, unpacking the new house, and sitting outside in the yard. I have just gotten all my chickens in a row enough to pull a few photos recently taken. This short set was taken at the end of May.
I was fortunate enough to be invited to tag along as a canoe mate for friend and photographer Ashley Camper to a lovely and intricately planned canoe picnic outing on Cedar Lake. We assembled around 5AM on the beach as the sun came up over the foggy water. There were 8 people and 4 canoes. This lovely event was the brainchild of the charming and talented Jill Livingston, whom I met along with her husband Nick for the first time that morning. There were green canteens of dark coffee and bottles of clotted cream. Grapefruit spritzer, smoked trout, fresh brioche rolls, raspberry salad, small quiches wrapped in brown paper and tied off with string. All was exactly as you could imagine, but much more fun. There were also wine and mimosas. Stay tuned to Ashley Camper to see photographs that feature the food, the spread, and of course the lovely people who made it happen.
